The Annual Corpus Christi Procession (2026)
After the 10.30 a.m. Mass, we shall take Our Blessed Lord in procession around the Millbrook area. The procession will be the same route as last year and will take about an hour with 3 altars along the route and Benediction outside the Church upon return.
-
Please note that this event is for any Catholic, whether from Millbrook or from outside.
-
To honour the Blessed Sacrament – that is, God Himself – carried along our streets, let us make a special effort to wear our Sunday best: for instance, dresses for ladies and girls, suits for men and boys.
-
Please wear appropriate clothing, walking shoes, sun cream if sunny, waterproofs if not, and bring an umbrella to accommodate all weather.
-
Children are invited to bring flower petals in baskets to be scattered before the Blessed Sacrament. Adults must take responsibility for their children, especially along the busy roads. Please take care when crossing the small roads; there are marshals to assist you.
-
Please do invite people to come from far and wide to walk by Our Lord and sing, giving this beautiful witness of the Eucharistic presence.
For those who can stay after the 9.00am Mass, there will be a light breakfast in the hall. There will also be refreshments after the procession.
We need plenty of volunteers to ensure this is spiritually fruitful for the Parish and wider community. In particular, we need help with the three altars along the route, canopy bearers, marshals (preferably people with no other responsibilities during the procession), singers, flower girls and, of course, petals. We would also welcome a couple of first aiders, volunteers to assist elderly parishioners, including those who may need wheelchair assistance, and help with preparing the parish hall for the afternoon tea. We thank you all in advance for making this holy endeavour possible.
