Father Benjamin writes...

Welcome to the Parish of Holy Family

Holy Family is a Roman Catholic Parish of the Diocese of Portsmouth serving the Millbrook area of Southampton. We exist to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ as we proudly profess our Catholic faith.

"Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink." (John 6:55-56)

The Annual Corpus Christi Procession. On the 2nd June, we will celebrate the great Solemnity of Corpus Christi. After the 10.30 a.m. Mass, we shall take Our Blessed Lord in procession around the Millbrook area. The duration of the procession (slow pace) would be approximately 20 to 30 minutes. Please note that this event is for any Catholic, whether from Millbrook or from outside. To honour the Blessed Sacrament – that is, God Himself – carried along our streets, let us make a special effort to wear our Sunday best: for instance, dresses for ladies and girls, suits for men and boys. Children are invited to bring flower petals in baskets to be scattered before the Blessed Sacrament. Please do invite people to come from far and wide to walk by Our Lord and sing, giving this beautiful witness of the Eucharistic presence.

Following the Procession, there will be an Afternoon Tea that will be held in the Parish Hall. A £5.00 contribution fee will be required per head.

We will need volunteers as marshals for the procession (preferably people who have no other responsibilities), a couple first aiders, and people to assist any elderly people (perhaps involving pushing wheelchairs). We will also be needing help in preparing our parish hall for the afternoon tea. We thank you all in advance for making this holy endeavour possible.

We are happy to update families that the application process for our Parish First Reconciliation and Holy Communion programme for 2024/2025 will be open from Monday 27th May until Monday 3rd September 2024. Please note the following information:
•    Your child or children will need to be in Year 4 or above from September 2024
•    You need to live in our parish and must be registered parishioners.
•    You need to attend Mass regularly.

To apply we ask that you simply complete an interest form here:

Outdoor Rosary Tuesdays and Wednesdays. As well as our Sunday afternoon Holy Rosary at 4pm, we will pray the Holy Rosary outside the Church on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at approximately 10am. Please join us.

Eucharistic Adoration is a Catholic devotion dating back to the early days of the Church. We are, as ever, grateful to Our Blessed Lord’s faithful Adorers for keeping the watch from Thursday till Saturday every week. Our Parish is showered with blessings from this devotion. We are still in great need of permanent adorers.

There are various parts of our Church which are presently in need of repair, which sadly costs money.  We are looking at quotes for repairs to the Church roof and upgrades to the heating systems in the Church and Hall. A simple way to raise some funds is through Gift Aid. If you are a taxpayer and eligible, please complete a Gift Aid form so we can reclaim the tax you have paid on your donations to the Parish.

If you pay UK tax and sign a Gift Aid form, we can claim back from the government 25p for every £1 you donate to the Church at no extra cost to you. This can make a big difference to the Parish income.

Church Heating. We now have quotes for the upgrade to the Church and Hall boiler/heating systems. Our fundraising target is £25,000 for a upgrade of the two. Unfortunately, the church boiler cannot be repaired so our most urgent need is to replace this so as to have heating in the winter. This will be approximately £5000. Please support the fundraising initiatives so we can achieve this as soon as possible.
